Mark Jarvis

Mark Jarvis

President, CEO and Director

Mr. Jarvis has more than 30 years' experience in exploration and development of mineral resources, both in oil and gas and metals. After a career in financing exploration projects as a stockbroker, Mr. Jarvis moved to the corporate side of the business in 1996. He joined the Board of Ultra Petroleum, which at the time was a small oil and gas exploration and development company with a large, unconventional gas deposit. As Director responsible for Corporate Finance, he raised the equity capital necessary to prove the concept and to establish enough production to finance further growth with debt. Ultra Petroleum has grown from an exploration play to 3 TCF of proved gas reserves.

Mr. Jarvis became CEO and President of Giga Metals Corporation's predecessor company in January 2004. During his tenure, the company has drilled off a giant nickel/cobalt deposit, worked out a reliable metallurgical circuit, and published a Preliminary Economic Assessment.

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Anderson completed his bachelors of commerce degree at McGill University in Montreal. He earned his CPA, CA accreditation in 2008 after which he began providing accounting and CFO services to junior public companies primarily involved in the natural resource sector. He has extensive experience in financial and accounting related functions based on his experience working with companies such as Claren Energy Corp., I-Minerals Inc. and Callinex Mines Inc., among others.

Ms. Young's 25-year background in the junior capital markets started with CM Oliver & Company where she served as Executive Secretary to senior management and board members. Ms. Young joined Giga Metals' predecessor company in February 2004 as the Corporate Secretary and Office Administrator. She is responsible for corporate filings, assisting and reporting to the President, secretary to the Board Meetings, to act as liaison with corporate council and respective corporate matters, and to act as Manager to administrative employees and the general operations.

Lyle Trytten

Manager of Development

Mr. Trytten has more than 25 years' experience in the nickel industry, and was previously General Manager, Sustainability with Sherritt International Corporation at their Alberta nickel refinery. In this role, his duties included oversight of EH&S, stakeholder relations, and emergency response programs. Previously, Lyle had managed Sherritt's acclaimed metallurgical research group and full-service engineering group and managed the project review component (including technical review and economic modelling) for the growth mandate of Sherritt's technology division, formerly Dynatec Corporation. At Dynatec, Lyle was a member of the Ambatovy project due diligence and feasibility study teams, overseeing process design and the development of the project cost and economic model. Lyle has been personally involved with metallurgical operations on five continents, including a 1-year secondment to the Murrin Murrin nickel refinery in Australia (now owned by Glencore) and start-ups of metallurgical processing facilities in the US and Indonesia.

David Tupper, P.Geo.

Manager of Exploration

David has over 32 years of mineral exploration experience, which includes managing the identification, acquisition and execution of numerous high quality, early stage to large-scale drill exploration projects. He has experience exploring for uranium, gold, base metals and coal in a wide variety of geological settings in North, Central and South America, as well as Asia. He also has experience in surficial geological mapping associated with slope stability and contaminated sites environmental work. David is a Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101.

Greg Ross, P.Geo.

Project Manager

Mr. Ross has over 12 years of experience in the mineral exploration and resource development industries. He has served in Project and Senior Geologist roles for junior mining companies operating in Western Canada, including almost 10 years in the Ni-Cu-Co-PGE space. Mr. Ross is a Professional Geoscientist with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (formerly APEGBC) and is a Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101.

James Edward Beswick, P Eng. FCIM

Environmental, Safety and Community Programs Manager

Mr. Beswick is a registered professional mining engineer with over 30 years of experience in environment, permitting and community relations. Ed was previously Director of Environment and Permitting for Hillsborough Resources Limited and has worked with numerous coal, base and precious metal companies. He is currently a Trustee for the Canadian Institute of Mining Foundation.

Erick Bertsch

Mr. Bertsch is a mining industry professional with more than 25 years of experience ranging from grassroots field exploration to corporate positions with development and production companies.  Over the past 15 years he has provided communications and investor relations services for public companies operating in Canada, United States, Mexico, China, Ghana, French Guiana, and Ecuador.

Mr. Kirkham is a Professional Geoscientist with over 30 years of experience in the mining industry. He is the Past-President of the Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM) and co-Chair of the CIM Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves Committee as well as the Chair of the Geoscientists Canada, Securities Committee. As a Principal of Kirkham Geosystems, a full service provider of geoscience consulting services, Garth specializes in mineral resource estimation and is a Qualified Person in the context of NI 43-101 Technical Reports.

Tookie Angus

Tookie Angus

Mr. Angus headed the Global Mining Group at law firm Fasken Martineau DuMoulin and was more recently Managing Director of Mergers & Acquisitions at Endeavor Financial. He chaired the committee of independent directors of Canico Resource Corp. that evaluated the 2006 takeover offer for that nickel company from CVRD of Brazil. Mr. Angus will advise the Company how to achieve maximum shareholder value from Giga Metals Corporation's predecessor company's resource. He brings a wealth of business, legal and strategic experience to the table. His strategic advice will be particularly important to Giga Metals Corporation over the next years as it continues to advance the Turnagain project.

Dr. Jon Hykawy

Dr. Jon Hykawy

Dr. Hykawy has made battery materials a key part of his research focus since 2009, when he helped found Byron Capital Markets, a boutique brokerage operation. His current business, Stormcrow Capital Limited, consults with various clients who are involved in critical materials. He is widely quoted on battery materials such as cobalt, and is an invited speaker at many conferences around the world.

Geologist

Mr. Hitchins completed his bachelors and masters degrees in engineering geology and economic geology at the University of Toronto. Subsequently Mr. Hitchins spent the next twenty years involved in various aspects of mineral exploration from field geologist to project manager. Exploration targets included volcanogenic massive sulphides, carbonate and sandstone hosted Pb-Zn-Ag, vein gold, intrusive hosted gold, base metal skarn, and tungsten-molybdenum porphyry deposits for the Amax group of companies. Between 1994-1998, he was district exploration manager for Cyprus Gold in Western Australia. Since returning to Canada Mr. Hitchins has worked with Vancouver based junior exploration companies.

Mr. Carson was President and Director of Diamond Fields Resources Inc. from May 1995 until July 1996, when Diamond Fields was acquired by Inco in a $4.6 billion transaction.  Prior to that Mr. Carson was Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales at Falconbridge Ltd., a member of the Advisory Board for Nikkelverk Nickel Refinery at Kristiansand, Norway and Chairman of the Nickel Development Institute.

Dr. David Dreisinger

Dr. Dreisinger completed his  B.A.Sc. and Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering at Queen's University in Kingston and has worked at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver since 1992. David has held the position of Chair, Industrial Research Chair in Hydrometallurgy and has received numerous professional awards including the Sherritt Hydrometallurgy Award (METSOC), the EPD Science Award (TMS), the Wadsworth Award (TMS) and the INCO Medal (CIM). David is a Fellow of CIM and the Canadian Academy of Engineering. 

Tom Milner

Mr. Milner has a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree and a Master of Engineering (Mining) degree. He brings over 35 years of experience in mine development and operations. Mr. Milner held mine executive positions with Corrriente Resources’ Mirador copper project in Ecuador, Taseko Mines’ Gibraltar copper mine in British Columbia, and Hillsborough Resources’ Quinsam Coal Mine on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. He has also made valuable contributions as a Senior Mining Consultant with Marcopper Mines in the Phillipines and Chief Engineer at the Equity Silver Mine in British Columbia.
